Hardness

Earth is rich with various minerals that are important. While they all have their purpose, some of them do not belong in our water. Calcium and lime are two big examples that present themselves in our homes and are generically referred to as "hardness". These minerals are naturally in a solid state, but can be dissolved in water. However, once that water evaporates it leaves the solid minerals behind in the form of scaling or spots. This hardness can have many unwanted effects on our home and fixtures.
Recommended levels of hardness are less than 3 grains of hardness per million parts of water.
